Danya is not just a horse lover—she’s someone who shares a heartfelt connection with Cas, her red-brown horse with a striking white stripe running down his face. Their mutual trust and calm energy were evident from the moment we began. It’s these bonds I love capturing most—unscripted, raw, and full of feeling.
Cas was gentle and curious, moving with ease through the fields, occasionally nuzzling Danya or standing still as if sensing the importance of the moment. His rich chestnut coat and bold white marking made for dramatic contrasts against the natural surroundings.
The Location: Rustic Charm of Joostenberg Vlakte
Joostenberg Vlakte, located just outside Cape Town, is the perfect canvas for equine photography. With its open grassy landscapes, soft earth tones, and undisturbed rural vibe, it allows horses to feel at ease and clients to fully immerse themselves in the moment.
For this shoot, we timed it just before golden hour—the late afternoon light wrapped the scene in a warm glow, creating natural highlights in Cas’s coat and a soft luminescence around Danya.
