Family Shoot at Loch Lynne Wine Estate | De Reuk Family

A Light-Filled Family Session with the De Reuks

The De Reuk family joined me for a golden hour session on the sun-kissed lawns of Loch Lynne Wine Estate in Durbanville. With soft evening light, coordinated white-and-denim outfits, and the joy of spending time together, this shoot was filled with movement, laughter, and heartfelt connection.

The Full Story: Light, Love & Connection in the Vineyards

Golden hour has a way of turning simple moments into pure magic. For the De Reuk family, our session at Loch Lynne Wine Estate was relaxed and playful, capturing the genuine connection between parents and their little boy.

We chose the estate’s expansive lawn area, just outside the main buildings, where the open sky and natural light offered a dreamy canvas for this light-hearted family shoot.

Meet the De Reuks

This shoot was all about capturing the realness of family—hugs, giggles, and that quiet joy that lives in everyday connection. Mom wore a breezy summer white dress, which flowed beautifully as she moved and added softness to the frame. Dad and their son matched in classic white button shirts and jean shorts, keeping things crisp, clean, and coordinated without being too formal.

Their little boy brought such joy to the shoot—running barefoot on the grass, climbing into dad’s arms, and sharing quiet cuddles with mom as the sun dipped below the vineyards.

Why Loch Lynne is Ideal for Family Photography

Located in the Durbanville Wine Valley, Loch Lynne Wine Estate offers one of the most photogenic backdrops for family shoots in the Western Cape. Its open lawns, elegant architecture, and golden vineyard borders create an atmosphere that’s equal parts sophisticated and relaxed.

The golden light we had during this session wrapped around the family like a warm blanket—illuminating skin tones, catching movement in the dress, and turning each candid moment into something timeless.

Styling That Let Love Shine Through

The white and denim wardrobe palette kept things fresh and summery, and allowed the emotion of the shoot to shine. The colours paired beautifully with Loch Lynne’s warm tones and natural textures.

I always encourage families to dress in complementary neutrals for golden hour sessions—especially when shooting outdoors—because it allows for harmony between the subjects and the setting.

Capturing the Playful In-Between Moments

We focused on natural movement throughout the shoot—walking hand-in-hand, spinning in the grass, lifting their son in the air, and quiet snuggles in the shade. These small gestures often reveal the biggest emotions.

There’s something truly special about photographing families who let go and enjoy the moment. The De Reuks gave themselves space to connect, play, and be present—and the result is a gallery that feels warm, real, and uniquely theirs.
