This special session combined a playful cake smash photoshoot in the studio with a relaxed family photography session right next to the studio at Loch Lynne Wine Estate, creating a complete experience that captures both the milestone and the people who matter most.

It’s hard to believe how quickly a baby’s first year passes. One moment they’re newborns in your arms, and the next they’re taking their first steps, showing off their personalities, and celebrating their very first birthday.
Marcus’s session was designed to capture both sides of this milestone: the playful fun of turning one and the beautiful connection he shares with his family.
The day began with family portraits outdoors at Loch Lynne Wine Estate, followed by a custom cake smash session in the studio that perfectly reflected the warm, cheerful feel of the celebration.

Before the cake came out, we spent time capturing natural family moments amongst the beautiful surroundings of Loch Lynne Wine Estate. Marcus was joined by his mom, dad, and big brother for a collection of relaxed family portraits filled with laughter, cuddles, and playful interactions.
The family chose a beautiful colour palette of soft yellows, whites, and neutral tones that worked perfectly with the summer greenery surrounding the estate. Mom wore a flowing pastel yellow dress, while Marcus and his brother coordinated beautifully in matching golden-toned outfits. Dad completed the look with a classic white polo shirt and denim jeans. The result was a collection of joyful family images that feel warm, natural, and timeless.

After the family session, it was time for the main event.
Back in the studio, Marcus was welcomed into a custom-designed cake smash setup featuring soft yellow and white balloon styling, neutral textures, warm lighting, and a beautiful birthday cake created especially for the occasion.
Like many one-year-olds, Marcus approached the cake with a mixture of curiosity and excitement. Every expression – from cautious inspection to playful exploration was priceless. These authentic reactions are what make cake smash sessions so special. No two children respond the same way, and that’s exactly what creates the magic.
